A sort of decorative soil, if you will.  The balls start out as tiny grains that look like dried fish eggs, but once you soak them in water for a few hours, they grow to about half an inch in diameter.  I thought they looked interesting up close, and actually sort of reminded me of the Macintosh screensaver.  But once I started taking photos, I realized there was a lot more detail going on, which I find makes the photo a lot more interesting.</p>

<p>I waited for a minute or two for a crab to pop out of the hole, but he never came out.  But he&#8217;s in there somewhere&#8230;</p>
<p>I thought the close-up of the hole and sandballs made an interesting macro-landscape of sorts.</p>
